Lakeview Terrace

About a week ago, I watched Lakeview Terrace in the theatre with a girlfriend. Boy I had a good time watching the movie and I definitely recommend it to everyone. For me, the movie is quite true to some of the cops out there. I mean, they do what he does in the movie for real.

And being nosy is NOT a good attitude at all. You will learn why in this movie, hehehe. It's a good movie though...

Have a nice saturday everyone!

Shop! Shop! Shop!

A couple of months ago, a very good friend of mine went to Hong Kong to visit her husband. He had his some kind of training for his job at their main branch office. And guess what was the first thing she told me when she came back home? Hong Kong is a good place to shop! She really had a good time and enjoyed herself. Nice to be at the place just to go shopping huh! That's something to think about IF we ever get to HongKong. LOL.

But I tell you, to be able to shop online from the comfort of our own home is much easier than falling in line in the middle of crowd. And that's what I do most of the time, especially if I find good deals and coupons on the site. It's just more convenient for the entire family, you know.

Most of the online stores these days offers very low shipping. Sometime when you purchase a good amount from the site, you can get free shipping too! It's just like shopping in the store but avoiding the crowd and grouchy cashiers and customer service too, stuff like that. Definitely no sweating! That's a big plus.

A few weeks ago...

Hubby and I went to the mall and had a shopping day for him. I already had mine a week before that so it was his turn. I bought him pants, shirts, socks and a rockport shoes. Oh and several ties too. We had to wait a couple days to get his shoes coz the style he wanted was not available in the store. It is though from another branch so they have to have it shipped to our house.

And the shoes arrived. Looked great and felt good in his feet, he said. I think all leather feels good anyway, doesn't it? Oh God I love leathers, heheh!

One day while he was in the meeting, he noticed his shoes has a little crack at the bottom. It's peeling off the sole of it. And he wants to return it and have it replaced, lol. I told him I am not sure if they will replace it though and he said "yes, they will, they better". Hahaha! So, I think we're going back to the mall tonight and have it replaced.

Good luck to us, lol.

Shop Wiki

Shopping is one of the many things I love to do. Can be in the mall or any shopping center or do it online. To shop online for me though is much easier and more convenient. I can find anything and almost everything with my coffee and pajama on.

When I shop for home improvement in my house, I always check the good deals online first. Especially with all those discounts you see, oh I love it! Most of the time, I get free shipping coz I met the minimum amount of purchase. Not to mention they give free gifts too once in awhile. Isn't that so nice.

I find this online store that has a variety of everything. You don't need to go anywhere else coz you will see everything in here. They have give away too, wow! I am sure I will be a constant customer on this site, I tell you. In fact, I am already browsing the site. Looking for a new digital camera that I can bring with us when we go visit home. Oh my God, I am so excited for our new digicam.

I definitely recommend this store to anybody. You'll be glad you did, folks.

On the vessel now

The boxes we sent for my family to Philippines finally left Long Beach, Ca. The vessel departed the other day, yey! It will be long before it gets there but I'm excited for them to receive it. :-)

On the other hand, I slept almost the whole day today. Can you tell I have just woken up? Lol! I wanna read news for a little while, probably find something to eat too. My husband told me he made a sandwich grilled cheese earlier for both of us but I was sleeping so, I think my part is still in the fridge, hehe. Will go hunt for it soon.

I'll be visiting some blogs too, after I read the news. So, I'll see you in a little bit, folks!

Have a wonderful early Friday morning! :-)

I have known my mom as a great cook. My father and my brothers always love mom's cooking. I would say it's her natural ability. She didin't go to school for that nor attended any certification class. I would love for her to get a degree from any culinary school one day, God willing. I'd love her to be trained by a professional who specialized in culinary art. There are several types of culinary careers that direct food preparation and plan cooking activities in commercial kitchens and restaurants. Chefs are typically employed in restaurants, hotels, bakeries, food commissaries, catering companies, cruise ships, healthcare institutions, vacation resorts and similar establishments.

Going to culinary school is one way to become a chef, and it will certainly increase the potential employability of someone who would like to pursue a career in professional kitchens, like my mother. I want her to be a culinarian. A person working in the culinary arts. I know how she wanted to be a real chef in fine restaurants or own one, even though she's already the best chef we ever got in the family.

Culinary artists are responsible for skillfully preparing meals that are as pleasing to the palate as to the eye. Increasingly they are required to have a knowledge of the science of food and an understanding of diet and nutrition. They work primarily in restaurants, fast food chain store franchises, delicatessens, hospitals and other institutions. I believe my mother can do all these but I would love for her to get certified and fully skilled. I hope she can get her degree soon.

Shiraz Wine

A glass of wine every day is good for our health. Shiraz is one of my favorites. It is the leading grape of Australia and the classic red grape of the northern Rhone Valley of France (where it is known as syrah). It is also grown throughout southern France.

In the late 1980s and 1990s, California vintners also became increasingly fascinated by the grape which is now grown in many parts of California. The wine often has an unmistakable whiff of white pepper along with wild gamey, boysenberry flavors. Shiraz grapes have a characteristically deep purple color that is reflected in their wine.

Licensed Practical Nurse

Many individuals I know personally started their nursing career as an LPN or LVN. Which I probably would do in the future. I am not sure weather I'll go for it or not. It's on my list of courses I would like to take, but not on top of everything.

A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) works closely with patients in various health care settings to maintain and provide them basic medical care. They are generally supervised by registered nurses (RNs) as they assess patients, check routine vital signs, administer medication and aid in other simple medical procedures.

LPN can be completed as little as 7 months to 1 year for a hospital certificate, or you can obtain a LPN degree in two years from a community college, trade school or from any accredited lpn school. You will also need to pass the NCLEX-PN certificate examination to become nationally certified. When comparing licensed practical nursing schools, it's a good idea to ask what sort of training the schools provide to prepare you for the LPN certification exam. As a licensed practical nurse (and vocational nurse), you can earn up to $35,000 a year upon graduation, depending on where you're located and what type of medical facility you work in. In most cases, salaries for licensed practical nurses in large metropolitan hospitals tend to be higher than salaries for LPNs in nursing homes. LPNs can also continue their studies to become a registered nurse, as many nursing colleges offer transitional course that specialized LPN-to-RN degree programs.

Health Tips

I read this article somewhere on the net and I thought I would share it to everyone.

1. Move More
Make it a daily challenge to find ways to move your body. Climb stairs if given a choice between that and escalators or elevators. Walk your dog; chase your kids; toss balls with friends, mow the lawn. Anything that moves your limbs is not only a fitness tool, it's a stress buster. Think 'move' in small increments of time. It doesn't have to be an hour in the gym or a 45-minute aerobic dance class or tai chi or kickboxing. But that's great when you're up to it. Meanwhile, move more. Thought for the day: Cha, Cha, Cha…. Then do it!

2. Cut Fat
Avoid the obvious such as fried foods, burgers and other fatty meats (i.e. pork, bacon, ham, salami, ribs and sausage). Dairy products such as cheese, cottage cheese, milk and cream should be eaten in low fat versions. Nuts and sandwich meats, mayonnaise, margarine, butter and sauces should be eaten in limited amounts. Most are available in lower fat versions such as substitute butter, fat free cheeses and mayonnaise. Thought for the day: Lean, mean, fat-burning machine…. Then be one!

3. Quit Smoking
The jury is definitely in on this verdict. Ever since 1960 when the Surgeon General announced that smoking was harmful to your health, Americans have been reducing their use of tobacco products that kill. Just recently, we've seen a surge in smoking in adolescents and teens. Could it be the Hollywood influence? It seems the stars in every movie of late smoke cigarettes. Beware. Warn your children of the false romance or 'tough guy' stance of Hollywood smokers. Thought for the day: Give up just one cigarette…. the next one.

4. Reduce Stress
Easier said than done, stress busters come in many forms. Some techniques recommended by experts are to think positive thoughts. Spend 30 minutes a day doing something you like. (i.e.,Soak in a hot tub; walk on the beach or in a park; read a good book; visit a friend; play with your dog; listen to soothing music; watch a funny movie. Get a massage, a facial or a haircut. Meditate. Count to ten before losing your temper or getting aggravated. Avoid difficult people when possible. Thought for the day: When seeing red, think pink clouds….then float on them.

5. Protect Yourself from Pollution
If you can't live in a smog-free environment, at least avoid smoke-filled rooms, high traffic areas, breathing in highway fumes and exercising near busy thoroughfares. Exercise outside when the smog rating is low. Exercise indoors in air conditioning when air quality is good. Plant lots of shrubbery in your yard. It's a good pollution and dirt from the street deterrent. Thought for the day: 'Smoke gets in your eyes'…and your mouth, and your nose and your lungs as do pollutants….hum the tune daily.

6. Wear Your Seat Belt
Statistics show that seat belts add to longevity and help alleviate potential injuries in car crashes. Thought for the day: Buckle down and buckle up.

7. Floss Your Teeth
Recent studies make a direct connection between longevity and teeth flossing. Nobody knows exactly why. Perhaps it's because people who floss tend to be more health conscious than people who don't? Thought for the day: Floss and be your body's boss.

8. Avoid Excessive Drinking
While recent studies show a glass of wine or one drink a day (two for men) can help protect against heart disease, more than that can cause other health problems such as liver and kidney disease and cancer. Thought for the day: A jug of wine should last a long time.

9. Keep a Positive Mental Outlook
There's a definitive connection between living well and healthfully and having a cheerful outlook on life. Thought for the day: You can't be unhappy when you're smiling or singing.

10. Choose Your Parents Well
The link between genetics and health is a powerful one. But just because one or both of your parents died young in ill health doesn't mean you cannot counteract the genetic pool handed you.

Fashion Design

Designing is one of the most important aspects of the fashion world. In fact, everything revolves around designs. I was wondering how those fashion designers learned their best and made it into practice and became a successful one. I think it's a good career and a business too. Fashion design is a highly competitive job market, education level can make the difference between otherwise equally qualified candidates. In fact, education makes the individual more appealing job candidate in any field.

I believe no matter how talented a person is, fashion design school can be a valuable experience. It can give you opportunities to make industry contacts, polish your construction techniques and learn new fashion design software and programs. It will also help you learn to look at your own work critically and improve your design skills. While good fashion design will probably never be equated with a cure for disease or a solution for world hunger, fashion can make a person feel better. Though some may say fashion is purely superficial, appearance can have profound effects personally and to the world at large. Whether you think of royalty or rock stars, you visualize their appearance and presentation. What people wear projects who they are.

Choosing an accredited fashion design school ensures that the education you receive meets industry standards. It also helps ensure that your credits will transfer if you choose to change schools or pursue a higher degree at another school. They are primarily accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) or the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).
